Norman Carr Safaris

Delighted to supply some brief info about the projects we support;

Josefe School.
A fund started by Norman Carr more than 20 years ago. Initially the aim was to sponsor children through school, the project has grown and developed into a school with over 700 pupils, classrooms, a library, a lab, latrines a borehole for fresh water and teachers houses have been built. The fund provides books, pens, pencils, teaching aids, sports equipment and vital support for the ever growing school. A new fund has been recently started which sponsors youngsters into further and vocational training. We have teachers, nurses, accountants, mechanics etc going through college. There are some teachers at the school who were sponsored through their education and training and have now returned to Josefe as teachers.

Kakumbi Clinic.
Norman Carr safaris and other lodges in the Mfuwe area sponsor the local rural health centre. With a growing population and international visitors coming to the area, the lodges recognized that there was a serious shortage of medical facilities. Initially the clinic was staffed only by 2 nurses and had virtually no equipment of medicines. The Lodges sponsor a doctor and have donated diagnostic equipment, medicines and help with the many health promotion initiatives.

The clinic is the only source of medical care for a population of around 30,000 and is always extremely busy!

This are just the briefest descriptions of some of the activities we are involved with. Please don't hesitate to contact me for any further information or visit our website at www.normancarrsafaris.com

Christina
