2000 National Forum that guest speakers at any
APTA function should beprovided with the following guidelines. Updated by the Executive Board in 2004.

• Individuals who are not APTA members can make presentations at APTA gatherings as long as they
are not in direct competition with a corporate wholesaler. Guest speakers are encouraged to become an APTA member.

• Emphasis must be on enabling the travel agent to sell destinations on the Continent of Africa and to its islands.

• No comparison are to be made with the competition.

• Specific references to your company's marketing programs is limited to five minutes maximum, i.e. brochures, commissions, incentives etc.

• The chapters are allowed to invite any person (members and non-members) as a guest speaker/presenter providing the topic is generic AND the presenter is not promoting their company or product. If a product is promoted, the presenter must be a member.

• Only APTA corporate and associate members may host an entire event by assuming the entire financial responsibility. Such an event becomes the host's event and APTA members are invited as guests. When this occurs, local Corporate and Associate members should be advised, as the customary mini-mart would not be a part of the program.

• Chapters can determine the responsibility of presenter costs related to presentations: dinner costs, parking and accommodations, electronic equipment, an co-payments negotiated. The member mini-mart is a part of all venues and must be honored unless otherwise published.
